Shakespeare Comedy Kicks off Classic’s 11th Season
“At the read-through, I said that I want to hear the play,” said the New York-based theater artist (Director- Joe Goscinski). “I want to hear what this play is. And I want to hear something and I want to learn something new every time I listen to it.”
That’s his goal for the audience’s experience of the play, too.
“I always say to the actors, ‘You want to activate the listener’s ear. You want to create an effect in there.’ Because most people have seen ‘Midsummer,’ have heard it before,” he said. “It’s one of the most done Shakespeare plays, and I want people to see our play (as if they’re seeing it) for the first time.” – Deborah Martin, Express News
