A Midsummer Night’s Dream

September 7- October 7

Written by William Shakespeare

Directed by Joe Goscinski

“A teasing, glittering, very funny and amazingly inventive play…” – Shakespeare’s Globe

Magic, action, love and humor are the ingredients for this unforgettable spell. Shakespeare’s most famous comedy takes us through four interconnecting love stories, connected by a wedding celebration, which is set simultaneously in the woodland and in the realm of Fairyland, under the light of the moon. But sometimes in the course of dreaming and desiring, a little magic is all it takes to set the course of love, comedy, and reality in motion.

“The course of true love never did run smooth…” – Lysander, A Midsummer Night’s Dream Act 1 Scene 1

Opening Night – September 7, 2018. Please join us for a complimentary opening night champagne reception after the show!

Special Student Performances — September 20 & September 27, 2018 at 7 pm. School groups can register for this program HERE.

Study Guide

"The show is well-cast, and all of the performers deliver Shakespeare’s florid poetry with feeling. Many of the actors have been cast in dual roles, most notably Sam Mandelbaum as Theseus/Oberon and Carolyn Delinger as Hippolyta/Titania. Jordon Acker, Kacey Roye, Tyler Smith and Hunter Wulff are appealing as the quartet of lovestruck youths. Comic highlights are provided by Maggie Tonra’s high-energy portrayal of Puck and John Stillwaggon’s sublimely hammy Bottom, a character who literally becomes an ass." - Kurt Gardner, ArtScene SA

"Joe Goscinski knows “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” inside and out..."I always say to the actors, ‘You want to activate the listener’s ear. You want to create an effect in there.’ Because most people have seen ‘Midsummer,’ have heard it before,” he said. “It’s one of the most done Shakespeare plays, and I want people to see our play (as if they’re seeing it) for the first time.” - An Interview with Director, Joe Goscinski by Deborah Martin, San Antonio Express News
